How to Properly Jump-Start a Car Step by Step

If you don’t know how to jump-start a car and feel overwhelmed, then you can breathe a breath of relief. Jump-start car service is simple to perform, and all you need are a couple of tools. You’ll need a vehicle with a working battery and a set of jumper cables. Once you have those things, here’s the proper way to jump-start a car: 

1. Make sure both vehicles are facing each other, with the front ends being as close together as possible. 
2. Make sure both cars are parked with their engines off. 
3. Find the batteries for both vehicles, and remove any casing if necessary. 
4. Locate the positive and negative terminals of both vehicles’ batteries. Make sure the batteries don’t have any corrosion or dirt on them. 
5. Connect one of the red ends of the jumper cables to the positive terminal on the dead battery. Make sure the cable ends don’t touch each other during the process. 
6. Connect the other red end of the jumper cables to the positive terminal of the working battery.
7. Connect the black end of the jumper cables to the negative terminal of the working battery. 
8. Connect the other black end of the jumper cables to any unpainted metal surface of your car. 
9. With everything connected, start the engine of the car with the working battery. 
10. After a few minutes, start the engine of the car with the dead battery. 
11. After the car with the dead battery has successfully started, take off the jumper cables from both batteries one at a time. 
12. Let your car run for about 10-15 minutes to give your battery enough time to charge.
