How to Reset Tire Pressure Light

TPMS Light on Dash

If you notice that your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) light is on after you have inflated your tires, you may need to reset it. Your tire pressure monitoring system is an essential component of your vehicle’s safety, so it needs to be activated. If you run into issues with your TPMS light on, follow the steps below, or bring your Land Rover vehicle to our service center near Minneapolis for an inspection.

What Is Good Land Rover Tire Pressure?

Before we go into how to reset the TPMS on your Land Rover, let’s take a dive into what a good standard tire pressure is for Land Rover Range Rover vehicles. Good standard Land Rover Range Rover tire pressure is around 32-36 PSI. We recommend that you check your owner’s manual to find the exact recommendation for your specific Land Rover vehicle. You can also check with our service experts at Land Rover Richfield to see what makes good Land Rover tire pressure and if your vehicle has the right amount of air pressure.

HOW TO RESET THE TIRE PRESSURE LIGHT Step by Step

Once you have properly inflated your tires, the TPMS light should turn off on its own. However, if it remains on, there are several actions that you can take to do so. Here’s how to reset the TPMS light on your Land Rover:

  1. Drive at or above 50 mph to reset the sensor for 10 minutes, which can cause your sensor to reset the next time you turn on the car.
  2. With the vehicle off, turn the key to the “On” position without starting the vehicle. Hold the TPMS reset button until the tire pressure light blinks three times, then release it. Start the car and wait 20 minutes for the sensor to refresh. You will find the TPMS reset button under the steering wheel. Refer to your vehicle’s owner’s manual if you can’t find it.
  3. Inflate all tires to 3 PSI over their recommended amount, then deflate them completely. This includes the spare tire, as it may have a sensor as well. Once they’re all deflated, reinflate them to the recommended tire pressure.
  4. With the vehicle off, disconnect the positive battery cable with a wrench. Turn the car on and honk the horn for about three seconds. This discharges any power that’s still stored in the car. Then reconnect the battery.

While this process is simple to do, we understand if you want to leave it to the professionals here at Land Rover Richfield. Our experts know how to reset the tire pressure light on your vehicle as well as anything else your vehicle needs, so they’ll get your car serviced and back out on the St. Paul roads in no time at all.
